Data protection in the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion

1. Data protection provisions

Die The Meuse-Rhine Euroregion respects your personal rights.This includes the right to privacy, which is guaranteed under Article 22 of the Belgian constitution and Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
The Meuse-Rhine Euroregion processes your data in accordance with the provision of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation / GDPR).
With this in mind, the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion treats all personal data according to the following principles:

  • Lawfulness and fairness
  • Purpose
  • Proportionality
  • Accuracy and up to date
  • Time limitation for a specific purpose
  • Confidentiality and data security


The GDPR guarantees you the following rights:

  • The right to information. If data about you is gathered directly from you or through another source, you have the right to clear information as to who is processing your data, what data are processed and for what purpose (Articles 12 – 14).
  • The right to information as to the personal data that an establishment has on you (Article 15).
  • The right to rectification. If personal data that an establishment has about you is incorrect, you have the right to demand that it be rectified or completed (Article 16).
  • The right to erasure (“Right to be forgotten”) allows you to demand that your personal data be deleted if you no longer wish this data to be processed and the establishment no longer has a justified reason to keep it. (Article 17).
  • The right to restriction of processing: under certain conditions, you have the right to demand that the processing of your personal data be restricted (Article 18).
  • The right to data portability: under certain conditions, you have the right to get your personal data back and to place it at the disposal of other establishments. (Article 20).
  • Das right to object: in certain cases, you may object to the further processing of your personal data, if this is no longer justified by the exercise of public duties or by legitimate interests.
  • If you can prove your identity, you have the right as the data subject according to Article 15 to request the following information on your data:
  • Information as to whether there is any processing of data concerning you or not;
  • Information on the purpose of any such processing;
  • Information on the categories of data that are the subject to processing;
  • Information on the categories of recipients to whom data might have been transmitted;
  • If possible, the planned duration of data processing;
  • Information on the origin of the data if it was not supplied by you;
  • Information on the possibility of lodging a complaint with the data protection authority.


In addition, the provisions set forth in the decree of 16 October 1995 on the public nature of administrative documents are applicable.Further information in relation to the protection of privacy can be found on the website of the data protection authority and the website of the European Union.The full text of the General Data Protection Regulation can be found in the download section of the website. Only the texts published in the Official Journal of the European Union and in the Belgian Official Gazette are legally binding.

2. The content of the EMRLingua website

Whenever a user accesses the internet and retrieves a file, data on this process is temporarily stored and processed in a log file:

  • IP address
  • Length of time
  • Browser and hardware use
  • Date and time
  • Pages accessed
  • Data retrieval sequence
  • Search terms
  • Landing pages
  • Exit pages
  • Provider
  • Country of origin


This data is captured exclusively for the quality assurance of our web offering. It is not used in any other way or passed on to third parties. When individual pages are accessed, temporary cookies are used to make navigation easier.
In some cases we ask you to complete a contact form, e.g. in the case of online orders for information material or for the material lending service. These details are only used for correspondence and shipment. In this case, the provisions of the GDPR likewise apply in full.

3. Contact persons

The person responsible for processing within the meaning of Article 4 of the GDPR is the  Meuse-Rhine Euroregion, Gospertstraße 42 in B-4700 Eupen, represented by Michael Dejozé, CEO of the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion. Michael Dejozé serves as the data protection officer within the meaning of Article 37 of the GDPR.
